Making Sacrifices To A Dead God

The political structure in the country has serious flaws. Democracy has not worked for us. Our electoral system is incapable of producing credible representatives of the people. The mechanism of governance is archaic and dysfunctional. The entire fabric of the country is grinding to a halt. Nothing is working and society is desperately yearning for change.

Those newly elected into office are themselves absorbed quickly into a government immersed in corruption and operates a mangled bureaucratic process. The government is very much like a precinct where good people get into and turn out bad.

The country runs a kangaroo government. The situation is driving many people insane. They are tired of complaining and reporting to a government that pays deaf ears to the plight of the people. You can liken the government to a shrine, where the medicine man always request for expensive sacrifices that never produces positive results.

The people have become cowed and brainwashed, so much that they have come to accept the lies that the government tells them. How then do you explain the election into office of the same politicians who never keep a single promise year after year. It is so bad now that even the media has become part of this whirl wind of cowardice and praise singing.

There is still hope, as long as democracy remains one of the best forms of government, and elections still remain a veritable instrument of fair representation of the people. Election, just like war, the guns are getting bigger every single battle, so we must continue to improve the electoral process and make its results more far reaching.

Behind all of it, is our vote, the single most powerful instrument of change. Political parties have turned out to be mechanisms of manipulation. Let us go back to history, political parties have never produced a truly consensus candidate, we have always been offered candidates that are cronies of some highly influential political figures, often leaving us to choose between two bad candidates.

We can start a movement of non-partisan electorates to challenge such skewed political processes by giving our votes to an independent candidate. We can also advocate a callback of politicians brought into office under such shady arrangements.
