About Us



One Nigeria Group is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious lobbyist and social mobilization group created to promote peaceful co-existence amongst Nigerians. The Group has been in existence since March 2010.

The Group is formed to promote unity amongst Nigerians and to de-emphasize tribal differences in our body polity, preach against sectoral violence and rancor. To re-enforce our co-existence by promoting brotherly love, peace and social justice.

The Group is affiliated with a network of NGOs across the country and develop partnership with international funding agencies. We help to propagate national integration initiatives and programmes, disburse funds to support national mobilization plans through our affiliate NGOs.

SLOGAN

“One Nigeria Forever – A Stronger Nigeria”

This Slogan was chosen after thorough considerations to provide motivation and inspiration to Nigerians and strengthen our unification. It also forms the theme of the One Nigeria Group Campaign.

AIMS

To bring stakeholders from difference regions and interest groups together periodically, to engage in national discuss on pre-determined subject bothering on national unity.

To provide a platform and opportunity for different groups and interest to present their positions in a manner that other nationals will understand through specially developed programmes by The One Nigeria Group, which will help the nation find lasting peace.

Reach out to Nigerians across all regions through our network of NGOs, by sponsoring programmes that will promote peace, unity and to rebuild confidence and trust amongst the citizens.

Sensitize Nigerian about the need to be united and to discourage those things that are capable of causing conflicts and divisions.

OBJECTIVES

To sponsor conferences, lectures, workshops, seminars and to use any other available channels such as drama, stage performances and debates, rallies etc to propagate the message of peace, unity, and co-existence amongst Nigerians.

To sponsor Conferences and invitation of notable speakers and Stakeholders to engage in national discuss on pre-determined subject areas bothering on national unity.

To encourage national dialogue and discuss through social network media such as Twitter, Face- book, blogs, website, You-tube, etc.

To sponsor high-level debate amongst stakeholders on national television on vital subjects that are controversial with a goal to finding a common ground and rebuild confidence and trust.

To feature Television and Radio interviews, organize marathon races, visit to traditional rulers and religious leaders to solicit their support for the One Nigeria Group Project. To organize press conference to drive home our position of One Nigeria.

MEMBERSHIP

Membership is open to all Nigerians irrespective of tribe, religion, political affiliation, age or sex. Membership is totally free as there will be no annual due or levy of any kind. Membership is simply by indication of interest in writing or through our website and social media handles. Likewise, a member can be delisted from the group upon indication by writing. Before delisting such a member, the group will acknowledge receipt and confirm that the materials and properties submitted are complete.

OBLIGATIONS

Members may be called upon to voluntarily support financially. No disciplinary action will be taken against any member on the premise of not providing such voluntary support.

However, the Group reserves the right of favour in its nominations, appointments or selection processes, into any of the executive positions and as representatives in any of the group programmes or activities.

This rule does not apply to members of the executives. For any member in the executive to withdraw their membership, a letter expressing their intention is required to be submitted to the group, accompanied by all materials and properties provided by the group, which are in their custody.

National President


The position of National president will oversee the activities of all the National coordinators, State coordinators, Council Representatives, and Ambassadors. They will all report to the National President and they need his approval in all matters concerning the group.

The National President will represent the group in National and International engagements. He may also appoint any of the coordinators to represent him when he is indisposed.

The Position of the National president will be held for ten years by the incumbent being the Founder of the One Nigeria Group. After the expiration of the ten years tenure, he shall appoint a new National President, which tenure will be for one year.

After the expiration of his ten-year tenure, he will now be known as the Founder and Trustee.

During his tenure as inaugural National President, he can dissolve the National executive and appoint new officials from the ranks of the members.

Any other National president after the one appointed by the incumbent shall be by election. The new National President will appoint his own team into the executive board.

The National President has powers to dissolve the executive board and reappoint a new board or replace an individual officer, but not without the consent of the Board of Trustees.

The board of Trustees shall be constituted by past National Presidents and chaired by the founding President. In the absence of the founder, his predecessor becomes the chair.

National Coordinators, Administration

This position is saddled with the responsibility of providing administrative support for the group. He shall handle all logistics arrangements, travels, procurement, and office management and supplies.

National Coordinators, Public Affairs

The Position of National Coordinator, Public affairs will be responsible for both internal and external communications. He is the only officer that can relate with the media, release press statements and act as the spokesperson of the group.

National Coordinators, Legal

This position is saddled with the responsibility of drawing up appropriate draft bills to be sponsored by the group in the national assembly. He is to advise on all legal matters and represent the group in court in the event of legislation.

National Coordinators, Finance

The position of National Coordinator, Finance, is responsible for managing the group’s accounts, releasing funds and preparing regular financial reports to the executive board. He shall receive all monies paid to the group.

He shall be the custodian of the Cheques belonging to the group. All Cheques are to be signed by him, but approved and counter-signed by the National President. He shall be responsible for drafting the financial policies for the group.

State Coordinators

The State coordinators shall oversee all activities of the group in the States. All council Representatives shall report to him. The State coordinator can replace a council Representative but cannot dismiss a member from the group.

The State coordinators report directly to the National president.

Ambassadors

This position is the same as the State coordinator except that it is occupied by members of the group in the diaspora. They oversee all activities of the group in the country they reside. The Ambassadors are directly reporting to the National President.

Council Representatives

This position is saddled with the responsibility of overseeing all activities of the group in his council area. He reports directly to the State Coordinator.

Members

Members are persons who are registered with the group and actively participate in all the group’s activities. All members are quantified to be appointed into any of the positions above mentioned.

Fans

Fans are followers and supporters of One Nigeria Group on social media. They may participate in the programmes of the group, but they cannot be appointed to official positions in the group.
