Is Seeking a Perfect Society Normal?
https://onenigeriagroup.blogspot.com/2011/10/is-seeking-perfect-society-normal.html
Nigerians are more than ever before, seeking ways to turn things around in our society. Discussions are being held on different forum highlighting some of the ills of society and suggestions are given on how they can be remedied. This interesting dialogue below is one of many others on Facebook:
Pamela Deborah Ohwotite: Why is it dat much emphasis are laid on Self actualization. Self awareness & Self development & little is placed on SELF CONTROL?
Saya-Braide Ebi I wonder. March Oyinki 'Cos the law is there to control you.
Pamela Deborah Ohwotite is d law really controlling people as it is???
March Oyinki Well, it is up to you to try the law. Pull up a gun in public and see if the law works.
Eteriebe Ogu Amos Ejiro @oyinki, i totally disagree wit u on that, where is the control of the law where there is a total breakdown in the system, look around u, there is bomb everywhere and u are talkin of wieldin a gun, rape is on the rise, where is law on that, seekin vengeance is the order of the day, having power over oneself is it. People do not give a hoot about the law, they walk on it.
March Oyinki There is nothing as total control. Not even God has total control over us and that explains why the society is this way. The law will always catch up with you. That is why we say "every day for the thief and one day for the law."
Hilda Ejobowah @March...av bin tinkin of wat 2 say 2 u & *am stil thinkin*
Eteriebe Ogu Amos Ejiro No one ever said total control, but having power over oneself, more like keeping oneself in check, restraining one's speech that could trigger a whole lot sort off, that's what i think pam's post is about, why not educate on self control which for me make's a whole lot of sense. Speaking of God, yes to a large extent he not control our lives like some kind of robot, you will agree wit that He is the perfect example of one self control, though possessing unlimited powers, has exercised it at all times. Instead of taking immediate action against law breakers, he has allow time to pass , u know why right.
Hilda Ejobowah @Ejiro,thanx 4 takin d tots outta my mind
March Oyinki @Ejiro and Hilda: This subject is very expansive and diverse. It could be dedated either way, negatively or positively, and which ever way, there are a lot that can be said. I just tooked an extreme case, where when man fails to take contr...ol of himself, the society always enforces discipline. That is not to say, it is irrelevant for us to have self control. Man is the most difficult creature to control because like Pamela, you all expect a perfect society where we all have self-control. That is impossible because, we know the story of Lucifa and the angels in heaven.
Eteriebe Ogu Amos Ejiro @oyinki, sorry for using"i totally disagree wit u"in my first post, we all are entitle to our opinion. diverse, yes, it encompasses a whole lot on how we deal with every facet of our lives. A perfect society where self control is like a nor...m, Now? process on going. In the nearest future? Possible, Just around the corner! Lucifer and his Angels, driven from heaven(REV.12:9-12), REV.21:3 talks about a perfect society soon.
March Oyinki We can build a better Nigeria. Join the One Nigeria Group Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Onenigeriagroup.
Eteriebe Ogu Amos Ejiro Only if u assure me that "we" can, eliminate hunger, sickness, hatred, prejudice, crime, aging and death just to mention a few,my dear March.
Pamela Deborah Ohwotite @ march...No man made law can help man himself exercise self control cos man can not control himslf ( Jer 10: 23) only if we beg Jehovah for his spirit can man have self control cos its a fruitage of his spirit (gal 5:22). There is total disarray, anarchy & chaos everiwia cos man lacking d power to control himself has dominated man to his own injury ( eccl 8:9). If the world leaders can't control themselves talk much of d world @ large, we genuine goldly minded individuals can exercise self control tru d help of God's spirit in readiness 4 d perfect KINDOM soonest Dan 2: 44.
March Oyinki @Amos. If we can change our belief system and our mind set to be more positive, and we learn to work together as one people, these things you mentioned are just tiny part of what we can achieve. There are more we can achieve, even in physical development and science. The Germans, Americans and Chinese all did it, and it works for them today. Nigeria can do it.
Eteriebe Ogu Amos Ejiro These days information abound everywhere, how have these nations all over fared? Is it the issue of total moral breakdown, finacial meltdown and there bailout, is natural disaster of different type and proportion to the extent of running out of name for hurricanes, global protest and rebellion against the same systems(present bank system protest that is turning violent globally),china and human right abuse(tibet), unemployment leading to increase in suicides rate, unstable home cause of increase in divorce rate, terrorism, .where were there science and answers to all these. LUK.21:25-27, am i expected to rely on man to whom no salvation belongs or GOD who cannot lie?
Pamela Deborah Ohwotite How many bombers hv d law apprehended ? Or is the looters of our treasury? or d kidnappers? D list goes on...
March Oyinki You have forgotten that we are blacks, and most of all Nigerians. Black Africa is an under-developed society. We are just learning how to manage the environment and even society. Everything we are doing is still in form of practice and try...ing to copy from more advanced societies. It is therefore understandable that things are the way it is. Let us start from the environment; a child in UK knows that refuse should be in trash cans and not in drains. They know that flowers and plants are part of their environment, and that their country is supreme to any other country. I can go on and on, so, let us rather understand that and take it easy with ourselves. We will get there one day.
